You will find a friendly welcome in Thailand. That is because the Thai people have a very different philosophy when it comes to gay and straight love making. There is really no label on gay people and straight people. It is of no real concern to them whether you love the opposite sex or the same sex. Gay vacations in Thailand may just become a favorite spot in the world.

Friendly Asian men are often very interested in meeting the western man here. The gay culture that you will find in Thailand was created by the western people. The nightlife and gay friends, as well as the gay sex, are things you will find readily available in this country. In fact, you will find that Thai men speak a certain amount of English in order to socialize with you, because they want to meet you.

Because the Thai people are not infatuated with youth, there is a lively gay community over the age of 35. This is a delight to gay westerners that are middle aged and even older. The local gay bars, as well as other establishments, can be found by simply asking some of the locals about them.

Gay establishments, such as go-go clubs and saunas, were largely commercial until just recently. Now there are non-commercial establishments, such as coffee houses and the discos, in the big cities of Thailand. And you will want to enjoy a night at a local go-go boy bar.

But even though gays are quite readily accepted, the kissing and showing of affection in public is considered inappropriate. It is as if you are fine to do it, but not display it or talk about it. This is the same for straight people, as well. As a matter of fact, if two Thai men are holding hands, it is because they are just friends, and they are displaying no sexual affection at all.

And the Thai people are very modest. They will dress behind a towel or other cover, even in a gym locker room. The bedroom may display the same modesty, at least until things get going. And if you are expecting wild and crazy sex, you may be in for a disappointment. It is probably a good idea to discuss any special interests you may have.

Ladyboys are what the Thais call drag queens, and there are a lot of hot spots and bars that have these shows. They often cater to a straight crowd. And the types of bars that have boys that you may want to take home are also around. In fact, this practice is relatively safe, as the bars know the boys they hire.

There are many other cultural differences that you should be aware of. One would be the fact that you are considered the social superior. That may sound strange to us, but the Thai people do consider the western man to be the social superior. Therefore, you will be accepting the check and paying for everything. It is understood and expected. You will be more respected if you dress the part. Leave the shorts and tank tops at the beach, and dress for the occasion. Long, pressed pants and a neatly tailored dress shirt will gain respect. A lot of compliments on your part will be a good thing. Criticism is not taken well, even constructive criticism. So, refrain from doing that. You may find that your new boyfriend wants to share your clothing, and even your toothbrush. Be patient, and be generous. There are just a lot of differences in the cultures. You may find his footprints on the toilet seat. You will just have to look the other way on that one.
