Superb Inland Beach Cottage Rentals

Saturday, July 10th, 2010

When many people, singles and families alike, think about booking a holiday, many of them would only think about going to the beach for a fortnight’s lounging on the beach under the sun and swimming in warm, azure waters.

However, many of the best, most famous beach locations are magnets for crowds of people. It appears that most people like the sand, the sea and the sun. Now some people go to these places precisely because they are full of activity. They like the crowds and the night clubs that attract them. Mainly singles go to these types of destinations and a holiday affair is not far from many peoples’ minds.

Couples and older people may prefer a little less noise, pollution and commotion. However, there are beaches which meet these demands too. Often they are private beaches. Some have hotels on them but some do not. Those that do not frequently have inland beach cottage rental properties instead. These are nearly always self-catering.

When most people think of a beach it is instinctively associated with the sea. However, this need not necessarily be so. There are also inland beaches on lakes and rivers. These beaches are usually referred to as inland beaches. Somewhere to stay can be a problem with even some of the best inland beaches.

Many of these inland beaches are just not well-known enough to make a hotel commercially viable, but some of them have cottage rentals as an alternative. These cottages, or cabins sometimes, can be hard to find if you do not reserve early enough. They are frequently complete homes, fully equipped with all the household amenities you have grown used to: a fully furnished living room, multiple bedrooms, bathrooms, and a modern kitchen.

Inland beach cottage rentals are popular because they are usually situated right on the water’s edge. This makes the bit of beach right before your cottage your private beach. You can sleep on it at night if it’s hot, lie there all day or set up a few fishing lines.

In the evenings, you can hitch up with neighbours to have a party or keep yourself to yourself. For this reason, it is a good idea to check photos of the cottage before you make a booking.

If an inland beach cottage rental sounds just up your street, there are thousands to pick from in the United States and Canada. The Great Lakes are a particularly beautiful place to go. There are excellent locations in the Finger Lakes region of New York state and along Lake Michigan and Lake Huron.

You will not regret going on holiday to an inland beach cottage rental property. There are so many variations that there is certainly something for every pocket and every family size. Singles are not so well catered for, but if you want a quiet holiday alone. maybe to study, then this might fitting be for you too.

You can fly into some of these resorts by seaplane, but it is more likely that you will take your own car or a rental car, if you want to get out and do some exploring further afield. Personally, I would rather hire a dinghy.

Cottage Rentals In The Country

Friday, May 28th, 2010

Most people look forward to going away on holiday and a lot of people like to make complex plans and bookings. After all you usually have to make allowances for flights and hotels. However, there can also be car, sightseeing and bicycle bookings too, depending on the category of vacation you want.

Instead of a hotel, you might want to think about hiring a private cottage. Cottage rentals are a good alternative to a hotel or guest house. In general, cottage holidays are self-catering, so you would have to be ready to put in a little more work than if you went on an all-inclusive hotel stay. A small cottage on the coast in a secluded location would suit many people, but a vacation cottage on the coast might be better for others.

If you pick the right location, you can have whatever sort of cottage you want. Go to the coast if you like sailing or snorkeling. A seaside resort location would offer more night life probably. If you want a quieter fishing vacation with canoing or boating, a quiet lakeside hideaway would be more fitting. Then there are mountain huts and several other degrees of solitude and nightlife too.

If you would like to go to see museums and other touristic sights, you should choose a location near an appropriate city. It just means a little forward preparation and consideration.

We live in Wales and there are thousands of rental cottages of all types in all manner of locations. If you have a big family, you could hire several cottages close to each there and live in a kind of old fashioned community. There are also modern camps like ‘Center Parcs’ which have hundreds of very modern cottages in small groups of four or five so that families or friends can stay in a group together.

These modern cottages are very plush, with Jacuzzis, swirl baths, large flat screen televisions and all manner of entertainment equipment and satellite TV. The cottages are set in acres of woodland and wildlife is everywhere. There are deer, badgers, foxes, squirrels and dozens of types of birds including kingfishers, geese, ducks and swans.

The swimming pools are fully heated and go inside and outside into the woods, so that even in the middle of winter you stay warm. There is also archery, boating and hiking with many courses of differing hardship to follow. It is great to walk in the woods knowing that you cannot get lost with wildlife around every corner.

The wildlife is used to human company, so much or it is not afraid and they come right up to you if you stop for a picnic. These holidays are not so cheap as going to a self-catering private holiday, but they are safe, particularly for young families.

You can find cottage rentals through a travel agent, but you can also find them by searching in your local newspaper. These are some of the best finds because the cottages might be only a few hours drive away, but that is far enough to make a big change. You do not really need to get on a plane to have a great vacation with a difference.

Some Different Ways To Experience The Cottage Lifestyle In Canada

Thursday, March 25th, 2010

Taking off for the cottage lifestyle in Canada, especially during the “season”, is a great vacation idea for the person needing to unwind. But can’t the same be said of many other vacation spots as well? Why would someone choose this country, in particular?

Well, in addition to the spacious skies and majestic mountains of the land, Canada also has a number of other things for novice vacationers to experience. And even if you’re an expert at living that kick-back existence - while on holiday in this country, anyway, - you may not have thought of the ones on this list:

The royal birthday bash: “May two four”, “May Run”, and “May Long” are all slang terms for Fete De La Reine. It means “Victoria Day”, and the birthdays of two infamous Queens - Victoria and Elizabeth - are the reason for a yearly national party, held in their honor. If you’re anywhere in Canada at that time, you’ll be attending the bash by default.

The way you choose to celebrate the occasion is entirely up to you. You can play it up energetically, with a crowd of other tourists and natives - eating, drinking, and toasting the monarchs till the wee hours of the morning. Or you can decide on being mellow - and hold a private party at the cottages for just a few people, or by yourself, in the cottage. It’s all good - as long as you’re celebrating something.

Revisit Anne of Green Gables - With its feeling of peaceful isolation, Prince Edward Island is an excellent idea for anyone wanting to explore a cottage lifestyle on their vacation. A visit to the town of Cavendish, home of author Lucy Maud Montgomery, is an even better one. This is the place on which the fictitious town of the series, Anne of Green Gables, is based. The books tell the colorful and charming tale of Anne - a feisty, lovable orphan girl, and the adventures she has. Upon visiting the farmhouse - and seeing the other places that have become household words to a lot of people, you will find it hard not to travel back in time - and lose yourself to the innocent days of childhood, in its wonderful world of make-believe.

Rare finds on Vancouver Island - If it’s the good old days you want - and something tangible of them to hold in your hands - then rent the fractional cottages on Vancouver Island. You’ll have plenty of personal down-time here - surrounded by the beauty of nature - and of course, many different antique and thrift stores around the city to feed your soul’s passion for history.

And once you’ve found some souvenirs, enjoy them to the fullest by including them in the decor of your temporary residence. For example, if you love all things Victorian, dress up your cottage parlor in some Edwardian finery - such as pretty prints or lace curtains, glitzy chocolate box tins and other bric-a-brac on the tables. You can even go so far as to complete the scenario with a touch of aromatic potpourri to scent the air.

And don’t forget to add a dash of the days-gone-by to the settee and chairs. Drape some old-fashioned nature-motif bed sheets on them, throw in some pillows - and complete your sense of total Victoriana. Get away from it all, by creating your own time machine while you’re there. And when it’s time to leave the heaven you’ve found, pack up souvenir memories and take them with you - to enjoy whenever the fancy strikes you.

Changing the way someone views the world is the biggest benefit to be had in learning to live the cottage lifestyle in Canada. If you put this concept into daily practice for your life, you’ll probably discover that its meaning really has to do with the state of mind you cultivate - not the environment where you live. And you’ll be even happier to find that your new outlook makes any place you reside, a little slice of vacation heaven.

Vacationers will surely enjoy the stunning scenery and charming atmosphere of the Muskoka cottages. If you look forward to spending quality time with family and friends, fractional cottage ownership make worthwhile investments. Purchase and rental options are both available.

Vacation Rental Homes, Are They Safe?

Thursday, March 18th, 2010

Many people that go on vacation prefer to rent a home in their destination rather than staying in a hotel. Most of these people do this because it offers them the freedom to cook their own food and eat out at what time they like without missing set meals that they have already paid for.

It can be more difficult to find such a vacation rental than just booking a hotel reservation. However, most holiday makers say that the endeavor is worthwhile. There are a few points that you should check up on if you are not to be disappointed when you get there.

It is very handy if you have friends or family living in the destination locale and if you do have this advantage, you should use it, but all is far from lost if you do not. There are often agencies for these types of vacation rentals as many people who live in such locations rent their homes out in the peak season and they do this through those agencies.

There are also quite a few web sites specializing in home rentals for vacational purposes. Some of these Internet agencies just charge on behalf of the property owner and others can organize swaps, which is a great, low-priced way to travel the world.

The surveys that these web sites carry out are usually quite wide-ranging, containing such predictable information as the number of bedrooms and bathrooms, but also such information as whether there is a phone, a car, bicycles or scooters on the premises, along with distance to the shops, main road, airport, train and bus stations.

However, if you have any questions still unanswered, you are normally encouraged to ask them directly to the property owner via the agency’s web site. It is a good idea to rent a vacation home through a rental agency for security reasons, because if a problem does occur then you have a go-between on hand. In these situations the agency would handle the whole affair, up to the point of criminal proceedings.

You may also like to ask about the age of the property, because often the day to day repairs of the place is down to you while you are there, as are breakages, unless those things are covered by the owner’s insurance policy.

You should also find out whether you are allowed to use the home owner’s bedding, linen, and towels etc.. Often you just treat the house and its contents as your own, unles a cupboard or door is locked and you have not been given the key.

One last piece of advice is to get suitable directions. Places that you are not familiar will look very different in the dark than they do in the daylight, particularly if the property is off the beaten track.

Therefore, if you are expecting to arrive late or if there is a possibility that you might be held up, ask for photographs of key points taken in the twighlight. It will make certain that you get to your destination vacation home rental with no difficulties.

Top Holiday Cottages in Anglesey, Choose Your Secluded Island Cottage Retreat

Saturday, October 24th, 2009

As a potential visitor to this beautiful island off North Wales you have before you an excellent choice of holiday cottages in Anglesey, an important factor in making this your vacation destination. The island is well connected by road, rail and air, and combines these advantages with the secluded and quiet coastal locations of many of the available island cottages. These properties are perfect either for small groups of friends, for families or for a couple looking to get away for some quality time. Being on the edge of the Gulf Stream, Anglesey is an island with a mild, temperate climate and is lucky with long stretches of sunny days.

It doesn’t matter whether you want to come here in the winter, autumn or summer, Anglesey has a wide selection of self-catering cottages for you to choose from. You may, for example, choose to stay in the rural area near Llynnon Mill, the only working windmill in Wales. The country lanes around here are great for those who love cycling, and you will find some earmarked circular routes which go past historic sites of interest. Holiday cottages in Anglesey in many cases retain traditional features, and you can stay at a farmhouse cottage next to a working farm, giving you the chance to see life on a modern farm on the island today.

Alternatively, you may prefer to stay in a coastal cottage right next to Anglesey Coastal Path which covers 125 miles of coastline within a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Here you can take in the truly magnificent mountain and seascapes are absolutely breathtaking and just think you could leave your cottage garden before breakfast and walk along the coast near Benllech, watching the sun rising on the horizon. You will find there is a wide choice of coastal cottages around Benllech which has some fine beaches nearby, suitable for families who enjoy water sports and for those keen walkers.

It is quite possible for a holiday cottage in Anglesey to be a modern, four bedroom house sleeping up to 9 or 10 people or equally a warm, traditional farm cottage set in a restful copse, full of bucolic charm with game, sheep and cattle nearby, with sleeping accommodation for only 2 or 3 guest, and a small private garden with a fine apple orchard. These cottages will usually provide an access statement for guests with a disability, and TV facilities and hairdryers are also offered. Your average cottage will include central heating as standard along with a shower and bath and facilities for families with young children such as extra beds and cots.

Imagine your island cottage near to the sea and you can strole along a wide sandy beach, the sea glistening and sun setting ahead of you. You could achieve this by getting a cottage on the south west strech of Anglesey coast. Running from the magical Llanddwyn beach near Newborough in the south to Aberffraw and its quiet sand dunes and marram grass stretching for miles to the sea and on to the “mecca” for surfers at Rhosneigr in the south west, there is an excellent range of coastal cottages to pick from.

In the far west of Anglesey there are European Blue Flag award winning beaches at Trearddur Bay and Porth Dafarch, and nearby there are some quiet coastal cottages on Holy Island within easy walking distance of the coast. If you stay here you could easily join the coastal path and visit the iconic South Stack lighthouse, and watch marine life off the cliffs from the RSPB Ellins Tower. Back on the eastern coast why not stay in a coastal cottage in sheltered spots near Penmon and Llangoed, where you could visit the historic Penmon Priory, Dovecote and Seiriol’s Well. This is also a good location from which to visit the famous UN World Heritage site of Beaumaris Castle from where you can enjoy some breathtaking views of the Snowdonia mountains.

Whether you are looking for a weekend break or perhaps a week’s vacation, there is a wide choice of island holiday cottages to suite the tastes of virtually every potential visitor. Some may want to kayak, swim or surf while others may want to enjoy a more sedate pace, walking the coastal path and visiting local art galleries and monuments. Whatever your pleasure, you can start your island vacation on the right foot by booking one of the many quality holiday cottages in Anglesey.
