Though religion runs deep in the culture, this is a country that if full of acceptance, particularly in the bigger cities. You can find many hotels and attractions that are advertised as gay friendly. The capital, Mexico City, has legalized same sex marriage and adoption, while the rest of the country recognizes civil unions for gay couples.

Mexico City is the cultural and financial center of Mexico. You can learn all about what makes Mexico special through the one hundred and fifty museums in the city. One of the largest pyramids in the world is also nearby. For hotels, you can find anything from cozy bed and breakfasts to luxurious hotels.

The gay neighborhood is famously known as La Zona Rosa, named after the pink stoned streets. Most of the bars, restaurants, and clubs are in this section of the city. They are all gay friendly, but there are a good number of clubs that are gay exclusive. One thing to keep in mind, the night begins fairly early because many of the locals use the metro system to get home at night. Public transportation ends at eleven, so clubs fill up early.

Puerto Vallarta is one of the most popular spots on the west coast. This is a quaint town that has developed over the years to provide modern convenience with ATMs and internet cafes. Take advantage of tours to the hot springs or take an excursion into the jungle with a river hike.

PV is a popular stop for the gay traveler. You can relax and enjoy fine dining in an upscale restaurant or go horseback riding when you want an escapade. Cancun is slowly emerging as a gay hot spot, though at one time it was known for having no official gay beach. That has changed with a crop of gay bars and a beach that is located at the south end of the hotel zone called Playa Delfines. In May there is the Cancun International Gay Festival and in November there is the Cancun Riviera Maya Gay Fall Festival.

Great Holidays In Gay Travel To Thailand

Thursday, June 10th, 2010

You will find a friendly welcome in Thailand. That is because the Thai people have a very different philosophy when it comes to gay and straight love making. There is really no label on gay people and straight people. It is of no real concern to them whether you love the opposite sex or the same sex. Gay vacations in Thailand may just become a favorite spot in the world.

Friendly Asian men are often very interested in meeting the western man here. The gay culture that you will find in Thailand was created by the western people. The nightlife and gay friends, as well as the gay sex, are things you will find readily available in this country. In fact, you will find that Thai men speak a certain amount of English in order to socialize with you, because they want to meet you.

Because the Thai people are not infatuated with youth, there is a lively gay community over the age of 35. This is a delight to gay westerners that are middle aged and even older. The local gay bars, as well as other establishments, can be found by simply asking some of the locals about them.

Gay establishments, such as go-go clubs and saunas, were largely commercial until just recently. Now there are non-commercial establishments, such as coffee houses and the discos, in the big cities of Thailand. And you will want to enjoy a night at a local go-go boy bar.

But even though gays are quite readily accepted, the kissing and showing of affection in public is considered inappropriate. It is as if you are fine to do it, but not display it or talk about it. This is the same for straight people, as well. As a matter of fact, if two Thai men are holding hands, it is because they are just friends, and they are displaying no sexual affection at all.

And the Thai people are very modest. They will dress behind a towel or other cover, even in a gym locker room. The bedroom may display the same modesty, at least until things get going. And if you are expecting wild and crazy sex, you may be in for a disappointment. It is probably a good idea to discuss any special interests you may have.

Ladyboys are what the Thais call drag queens, and there are a lot of hot spots and bars that have these shows. They often cater to a straight crowd. And the types of bars that have boys that you may want to take home are also around. In fact, this practice is relatively safe, as the bars know the boys they hire.

There are many other cultural differences that you should be aware of. One would be the fact that you are considered the social superior. That may sound strange to us, but the Thai people do consider the western man to be the social superior. Therefore, you will be accepting the check and paying for everything. It is understood and expected. You will be more respected if you dress the part. Leave the shorts and tank tops at the beach, and dress for the occasion. Long, pressed pants and a neatly tailored dress shirt will gain respect. A lot of compliments on your part will be a good thing. Criticism is not taken well, even constructive criticism. So, refrain from doing that. You may find that your new boyfriend wants to share your clothing, and even your toothbrush. Be patient, and be generous. There are just a lot of differences in the cultures. You may find his footprints on the toilet seat. You will just have to look the other way on that one. Once you begin to understand the differences and practices of the Thai people, you should have a marvelous time on your gay tours to Thailand.

Gay Trip Ideas For The USA

Saturday, April 24th, 2010

While most individuals are welcome in most areas of the United States, there are definitely areas which are more accepting of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered community than others. So, when such individuals travel, there is often more planning and research involved in choosing such a destination. To this end, there have been a number of travel guides published in relation to gay travel in the USA and beyond.

Such travel guides tend to offer information on areas which may be safer than others, as well as those which one may wish to avoid due to high incidents of related crime. In doing so, the publishers of such guides are also helping these individuals in regards to having a low stress vacation while away from the acceptance and comfort in areas where many call home. For, in addition to the information on various neighborhoods, these guides also provide detailed information on clubbing, lodging, restaurants and other gay friendly activities going on in and near the destination one has chosen to visit.

For, although the gay community has come along way in relation to gaining worldwide acceptance, there are still many roads to travel before such an accomplishment can be reached, if ever. This is because there are still several countries which do not welcome and some, who even have laws, related to homosexual lifestyles and behaviour. One such place being Morocco where one can be jailed simply for looking at someone of the same sex in a sexual way.

Regardless as to whether one buys travel guides or looks for such information online, there are a number of destinations which are more gay friendly than others. Although, one may want to call or e-mail businesses listed in such guides to be sure one is still in business. For, while most are successful, there are others which have had to close, especially during the recent economic downturn.

So, if one plans accordingly, based on knowledge about such a business, one can avoid any surprises which may be waiting at a preferred destination of choice. By doing so, one can also plan ahead with regards activities and lodging in the area along with finding a number of restaurants which not only cater to the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered community but which also offer foods which one may require in relation to any dietary restrictions.

While the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered community has come along way, not only in the United States, but around the world, there is still a great deal more to be done before individuals can find true equality. Therefore, as one might envision, the States within the United States which honor and recognize gay marriage have some of the highest rates with regards to tourism. Something States such as California and others, currently striving to offset deficits may also want to consider before allowing such discrimination to continue.

However, if the States were smart, the States would pass laws applying the same equal rights with relation to gay marriage as others have done. For, in doing so, the States can increase their levels of tourism by promoting equality and acceptance for all. Something, States which have passed gay marriage laws have seen through an increase in associated tourism. To this end, many individuals seeking to go on vacation, often focus on the States which now have the option of gay marriage available on a legal basis, regardless as to whether one desires to get married on such a vacation or not.

To this end, before embarking upon gay tours in the USA, one may want to check online listings for a variety of bed and breakfasts, cruises, hotels, resorts and other gay related vacation activities. For, this can allow one to save a great deal of time while on vacation if one has done their research before hand. Still, even going on the fly, by picking up a tour guide related to gay travel, one is well on their way to a fun, safe and relaxing vacation regardless.

Tips For Gay Trips To Iceland

Friday, February 19th, 2010

The majority of travelers that journey to Iceland each year do so to experience its unique, diverse natural beauty that is unlike anything you will find on gay vacations in other countries. From volcanoes and Europe’s largest glacier, to the Northern Lights and the sparsely populated island of Grimsey on the Arctic Circle, Iceland offers unmatched opportunities to experience the outdoors in a whole new way. Kayaking, hiking, rafting, ice climbing, bird watching, whale watching and ocean fishing are all popular activities throughout the country and are ideal for inclusion in adventurous gay tours.

Folks who might prefer a more urban journey will also find what they are looking for in Iceland, particularly in Reykjavik, the nation’s capital, where solo travelers and participants in gay tours will enjoy numerous historical and cultural attractions, a vibrant nightlife, plenty of shopping and dining options, an expansive waterfront and museums.

Nature lovers and birdwatchers will certainly want to take the short journey to Grimsey, an island 25 miles off the northern coast. Its only town, Sandvik, is Iceland’s northernmost settlement and has a population of just 150. Best known for the many bird colonies and steep cliffs that line its shores, folks who include Grimsey in their gay vacations to Iceland might also get to see polar bears, which occasionally arrive on ice drifts from Greenland.

Whether travelers come to Grimsey on gay tours or on individual treks, they will not want to forget to get a certificate stating that they have crossed the Arctic Circle while they are there. Those looking for outdoor gay travel adventures might also want to venture to Vatnajokull, Europe’s largest glacier, or one of the other glaciers that cover more than 10% of Iceland, for ice climbing and plenty of photo opportunities.

Other sightseeing and hiking opportunities abound as well, including numerous waterfalls, picturesque cliffs and historic Videy Island, which is just a few minutes offshore and home to Iceland’s oldest stone building, as well as several pieces of sculptural art.

The time of year chosen for gay vacations to Iceland is an important factor in determining which of the country’s natural phenomena you will experience during your trip: the Polar Nights, Midnight Sun or Northern Lights.

But, regardless of when you choose to plan your gay travel to Iceland, gay travel are not complete without a dip in the world-famous Blue Lagoon, just 45 minutes outside of Reykjavik, where visitors will find a pool of fluorescent blue, geothermal seawater enclosed by black lava rocks.

Turkey is a distinctive nation with a unique culture that has resulted from its singular location straddling both the Asian and European continents. The history of Turkey, as well as modern, daily life, has been influenced heavily by this positioning, with the general consensus being that Turkey is politically and economically closer to Europe, while the majority of its geography is located in Asia and its religious ties are in line with other Middle Eastern Islamic countries.

However, while Turkey is definitely an Islamic nation, visitors will find that a much more progressive mindset and Westernized culture is more evidence of the European influence that abounds. These characteristics that distinguish Turkey from other Islamic countries allow for safe, enjoyable gay tours.
