If you want to visit animals on a safari, then the Wild Animal Park can give you a taste of what animals from all over the world live like in the wild.

If you are still wondering what to do in San Diego, then take a trip to Old Town San Diego. There you will get a chance to see some of San Diego’s history and taste authentic Mexican food. You can also visit the Balboa park area to visit some very nice museums and to see the Dead Sea Scrolls. If you want to take a break for a golf game, don’t forget the famous Torry Pines golf course is located in the beautiful San Diego area.

Encinitas California - Best Beaches In SoCal

San Diego’s town of Encinitas has more than six miles of lovely beaches. Whether its swimming, surfing, boogie-boarding, reading books, running, jogging, playing volley ball or just loafing in the sun, Encinitas really does have it all.

If you like to work out, you’ll find what you’re looking for at Stone Steps Beach. You can run these stairs 5 times every morning and be in the best shape of your life. These steep stairs lead down from the top bluffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean and offer fantastic views to enjoy while you work out. At high tide the ocean comes right up to the bottom of the stairs. At low tides, the beach is wide and sandy.

Swami’s Surf Beach, forever immortalized in the Beach Boys Surfin USA, is just five blocks south of Moonlight Beach on historic Highway 101 and still draws the finest surfers in the world on a daily basis. Great scuba diving is just offshore from Swamis at the Encinitas Marine Life Refuge, North San Diego’s underwater park.

Moonlight Beach is a only a four minute walk from a wonderful little Bed and Breakfast Inn called the Inn at Moonlight Beach. Stone Steps Beach, Beacon’s and Grandview surfing and bathing beaches are north of Moonlight Beach, all within walking distance or a brief drive up Neptune Avenue.

You can learn to surf by taking a surfing class at Beacons Beach from the world-famous surfer named Kahuna Bob, a famous surf icon in Encinitas. His classes are great fun - just google Kahuna Bob Encinitas and you will be surfing in no time.

Moonlight Beach is my favorite beach in Encinitas because it has lifeguards, a big playground, easy-to-use parking lots, safe play areas for the kids, fire-rings (popular year-round), showers, clean restrooms, extensive beach rentals, a snack bar and, one of the best sandy beaches in all of Southern California.

Leucadia - A Unique Southern California Community

Leucadia is a funky beachside community within the little South California beach town of Encinitas. Once a hippie heaven, remnants of the 1960’s are still in evidence throughout this north San Diego community. Here you will find wooden cigar store Indians, tie-dye T-shirts, weird lawn art, cool love beads and surfboard mailboxes.

Leucadia was settled by English spiritualists in 1870 and named islands in Greece. Many of its streets are named after Greek mythological figures. Once primarily agricultural (the Poinsettia Capitol Of The World) many of the former flower-growing businesses are now gone.

Leucadia is home to phenomenal restaurants, goofy shops, palm readers, coffee shops and hip galleries. Popular hangouts include Pannikin Coffee, housed in a former train station (very artsy); the iconic Lou’s Records (national recording artists have played in Lou’s parking lot) with an enormous collection of CDs and records; and Juanita’s Taco Shop, home of the best Breakfast Burritos on earth.

Most of Leucadia’s residents will tell you that the best thing that ever happened to Leucadia is that nothing ever happened to it; it’s beaches are locked in time with the 1960s - true neighborhood surf breaks where many locals have been surfing for decades. Very much off the beaten path, there are three popular spots - Grandview, Beacon’s and Stone Steps - that are hidden gems, tucked away at the bottom of steep staircases.

Fitness enthusiasts can get a daily workout at Stone Steps Beach where a 97 step staircase lead down from the bluff top to the sandy beach; all along the workout you have phenomenal views of the ocean while you get fit. When it’s high tide, the ocean comes right to the stairs - at low tide the beach is sandy and wide.

If you want to learn to surf, you can take a lesson or two from the one and only Kahuna Bob, an icon in Leucadia - just Google Kahuna Bob. Dolphins and whales are regularly seen. And it you look closely on a clear sunset, you will see the “green flash” as the sun sets behind the Pacific Ocean.

Leucadia’s largest beach, Moonlight Beach, is often called “the beach with everything” because it has lifeguard towers, a big playground for children, roomy parking lots, safe play areas, fire-rings for use after sunset, clean restrooms and showers and a very wide, very sandy beach.
